West Kelowna Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce our two Head Development Coaches for the 2017/18 season. Based on a recommendation from the Steering Committee, the board agreed to divide the position between two coaches, allowing for a greater focus on age-appropriate skill development at all levels.
Our Head Development Coaches will work with every team during the season to not only teach our children hockey skills but to assist and guide our minor hockey coaches to instill the key values of teamwork and fair play while ensuring a positive hockey experience.
Cory played 12 years in the National Hockey League and was a member of Team Canada three times at World Championships and a two-time gold medalist. After retiring from t the pro level, Cory was an assistant coach for the University Of Calgary Dinos hockey team and the West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ team. Cory also helped develop ProSmart Hockey Learning System, an online tool for coaches, parents and players.
Cory’s focus will be with the Initiation, Novice, Atom Development and Atom Recreation divisions.

In addition to his Head Coach position with WKMHA the past two seasons, David has extensive coaching experience in Europe, BC Hockey League, Pursuit of Excellence and Okanagan Hockey Academies, and Major Midget League. David also played in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Kamloops Blazers and later as a professional player in Europe.
David’s focus will be with the PeeWee, Bantam and Midget divisions, at both recreational and rep levels.
