 Kamloops 11th Annual Summer Coaches Conference

July 14th-16th, 2017 - Kamloops, BC

Kamloops Coaches Conference and Kamloops Minor Hockey Association (KMHA) are pleased to announce the 11th Annual Kamloops Summer Coaches Conference July 14th-16th, 2017 at the City of Kamloops Sandman Centre, the home of the Kamloops Blazers.  This year’s Conference is being held in conjunction with BC Hockey’s HP1 clinic and features the following confirmed guests:

·         Ray Bennett - Assistant Coach, St. Louis Blues

·         Terry Bangen-Assistant Coach, Kamloops Blazers

·          Corey McNabb - Director of Player Development, Hockey Canada

The cost for the conference is $295.00.  There are discounts for OMAHA Associations that register more than one coach.

REGISTER 2 FOR $450, 3 FOR $500, 4 FOR $600.  ANYMORE AFTER THAT WOULD BE $100 EACH

Along with the BC Hockey HP1 clinic, a Development 1 and Coach 2 clinic are being planned as part of this year's Conference.

This includes all of the presentations, a conference gift, Friday night social, continental style breakfast both Saturday and Sunday, along with lunch and dinner on Saturday.

High Performance 1 Seminar Registration

 

BC Hockey announced that registration for the 2017 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) High Performance 1 (HP1) Seminar is open.  The seminar will take place July 14 - 18, 2017 in Kamloops, BC and will run in conjunction with the annual Kamloops Coaches Conference.  The application deadline is June 25, 2017.

Speakers and other details for the 2017 Kamloops Coaches Conference and HP1 Seminar will be announced shortly.  Previous speakers have included:

Those coaches applying for NCCP HP1 certification through this seminar must meet the following criteria:

Male Program Coaches

·         Have a minimum of three (3) years coaching experience at the Bantam level or higher

·         Should be the head coach of a Bantam level or higher team during the 2017-2018 season, or be an assistant coach at the Midget level or higher

 

Female Program Coaches

·         Have a minimum of three (3) years coaching experience at the Midget level or higher

·         Should be the head coach of a Midget level or higher team, or be an assistant coach at the College, University or Senior level for the 2017-2018 season

Participants must successfully complete the three (3) evaluation stages in order:

1.    Seminar attendance and workgroup evaluation.

2.    Post-seminar written exam and field evaluation.

3.    Making Ethical Decisions (Competition - Development), Leading Drug Free Sport and Managing Conflict.  All of these are available online through the Coaching Association of Canada.

After the successful completion of the written exam, coaches must complete their field evaluation within two (2) hockey seasons.  Field evaluations will only be completed under the minimum guidelines set for by Hockey Canada and BC Hockey.
